Mo Photo Update – Half Way Mark

I cannot believe it’s the 16th of November already! What with work, catching-up with friends and grooming my Mo, I’ve hardly noticed the time pass.

Given that today means we’re just past the half way mark, I thought I’d best post a photo update:

What do you think? A worrying number of people seem to think it suits me Surprised

Remember, I’m not growing a moustache for men’s fashion but for men’s heath. Help out the Prostate Cancer Charity by sponsoring me here.

Thanks and have a great week!

Weasel Ben?

My Flynn/Musketeer Mo is coming on well so it’s time for another photo update.

Unfortunately, I’m also looking a little weasel-ish! I can put up with it as it’s all for a good cause. Please help by donating here.

D'Artagnan

The Fynn’s have it, well sort of.

So I decided to opt for the Errol Flynn look (at least for now).

The Flyn is described as “A trim, pencil-thin ‘stache. Vincent Price sported a Flynn, and Bob Dylan recently adopted one.” by the experts.

Pic from yesterday as I didn’t have time to post then:

It’s kinda cool, as far as the Mo goes, but I’m worries that when combined with my tickler the Flynn takes on a more D’Artagnan resemblance. :(

My step-sister Nicola sent me this, so I just had to post it:

Mario has never looked so good!

If you haven’t sponsored me yet, please Donate Here. Thank you to everyone who’s helped out so far!

Decisions, Decisions…

This morning, whilst doing my best to avoid the area above my lip with my razor, it occurred to me I’m going to have to start to make some choices regarding the style of my future Mo.

Movember 05/11/08

So, as previously stated I was slightly worried that I could end up looking like a poor imitation of Freddie Mercury. The man might be a music icon but I’m not sure the dead-animal-over-lip look is what I’m going for.

Freddie Mercury

Andrew, friend and sponsor, made the suggestion of Errol Flynn. Now, I’m not good with the name of actors and have terribly little knowledge of yesterday’s films. However, I looked him up and have to admit the suggestion isn’t at all bad (minus the cheesy smile in this pic).

Errol Flynn

However, I’m not sure my tickler compliments this design of tache.

I’m therefore still open to ideas. What say you? Any other ideas of stars I could/should pay homage to?

Movember 01/11/08

Remember, remember, the 1st of Movember.

Right, so about a week ago a few of the guys at the office suggested we get involved in Movember, which is a fun way of raising both money and awareness of men’s health issues. Having not done anything worthwhile for charity since July 07 (see Sky Dive Pics here), it seems like a good opportunity to lighten the start of the winter with a little good-willed daftness.

So here’s the Movember challenge: During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’m growing a Mo (Moustache). That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because “I’m passionate about tackling men’s health issues and being proactive in the fight against prostate cancer” (and of course, it’s kinda daft).

Movember has some simple rules:

  • Start on the 1st November clean-shaven
  • For the entire month of November, must grow and groom a moustache according to these rules:
    • There are no beards
    • There are no Goatees
    • A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip (aka a tickler) is allowed (phew!)

So here goes: The attached pic shows me clean-shaven at the start of the month. I haven’t decided on the style of Mo to grow as of yet, but have a horrible feeling I may well end up looking like Freddie Mercury. Expect increasingly embarrassing photo evidence to follow.

If I’m going to spend a whole month looking stupid (or at least more stupid than normal), the very least you can do is sponser me and give some cash to the The Prostate Cancer Charity. So what are you waiting for? Donate now via my Movember page.

Movember 01/11/08

The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men’s health issues and donated to The Prostate Cancer Charity which will have an enormous impact on many men’s lives and the awareness will help us to fight prostate cancer on every front – through research, support, information and campaigning.

Did you know…

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. 35,000 men are diagnosed every year and one man dies every hour.
  • 1 in 11 UK men will be diagnosed in their lifetime.
